I homeschool my boys and math has always been their least favorite subject. They would rather clean their bathroom than do their math! I think most of the time it's because they just don't understand why they need to know it or how they will ever use it in real life.
Fractions and Percentages does an excellent job breaking it all down to a level they understand. There are a lot of diagrams which help explain things. It has several practice problems for them to work through and also the story problems are written so that it's how they would use them in their daily life.
